Vice Chair, Senior Managing Director, Partner, and Head of Research Portfolios, Wellington Management
Mark is head of Research Portfolios, a position focused on the clients invested in our analyst-managed mandates. He serves as the single point of accountability for these team-managed portfolios. He works closely with Mary Pryshlak, director of Global Industry Research, and Jon White, director of Research Portfolios, to coordinate the management of the investment team and the day-to-day execution of the portfolios.
As vice chair, Mark meets with a variety of clients, consultants, and prospects as a member of the CEO Leadership Team, to represent the firm and to discuss global capital markets, investment opportunities, risks, and potential solutions. He also chairs the firm’s Compensation Committee; he is a member of the Incentive Compensation Committee and Hedge Fund Review Group; and he is an ad hoc member of the Investment Stewardship Committee.
Previously, Mark was the director of Global Industry Research (2002 – 2017), a team that eventually grew to more than 100 professionals, following over 4,500 stocks and directly managing more than US$100 billion of client assets. Before that, he was a global industry analyst covering the nonbank financial services sector. Prior to joining Wellington in 1994, Mark worked in the corporate finance group at Advest, Inc., a Hartford-based brokerage firm.
Mark earned his MBA from Dartmouth College (Tuck), where he was named an Amos Tuck scholar. He received his BA in economics from Bates College. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Trustees at Bates College and on Tuck’s MBA Advisory Board.
