Savers no longer on hold says NAPF as HMT announces Pension Wise telephone number
24 March 2015, Press Release
The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) today (Tuesday) commented on HM Treasury’s (HMT) announcement of the telephone number for the Government’s Pension Wise guidance service.
Graham Vidler, Director of External Affairs, NAPF, said:
“Pension Wise, perhaps more than any other part of the changes, will determine the success of the Government’s Freedom & Choice reforms. Hundreds of thousands of savers will be looking to Pension Wise to help them make sound financial decisions to last them the rest of their lives.
“Today’s announcement of the telephone number means schemes finally have the full picture on these reforms and will enable them to finalise communications to their members. With seven working days to go before the reforms go live schemes will now do all they can to make sure their members are as well informed as possible for 6 April.”
The NAPF has developed some top tips for savers planning to make use of the new pension freedoms.
Notes to editors:
The NAPF is the voice of workplace pensions in the UK. We speak for over 1,300 pension schemes that provide pensions for over 17 million people and have more than £900 billion of assets. We also have 400 members from businesses supporting the pensions sector.
We aim to help everyone get more out of their retirement savings. To do this we spread best practice among our members, challenge regulation where it adds more cost than benefit and promote policies that add value for savers.
