PLSA Director of Policy and Advocacy, Nigel Peaple, to move to Chief Policy Counsel Role

02 May 2024, Press Release

PLSA’s Director of Policy and Advocacy, Nigel Peaple, is stepping away from his current role to work on a part-time basis as the PLSA’s Chief Policy Counsel.

After eight years at the PLSA, including six as Director of Policy & Advocacy, Nigel has decided to step back from full-time work and to instead switch to working on a part-time basis. Nigel was also Director of Policy for five years in the late noughties at the PLSA’s predecessor body, the NAPF.

His role as Executive Director Policy & Advocacy, which includes being a member of the PLSA Board, will finish at the end of August.

Recognising the considerable contribution Nigel’s expertise can continue to provide the PLSA, he will take up a new part-time role as the PLSA’s first Chief Policy Counsel. In this role he will provide policy advice to the Chief Executive, to the Chairs of the Policy Board and Policy Committees, and to the in-coming Director of Policy & Advocacy. He will also undertake an advocacy role on the PLSA’s key priority projects in this pivotal year of a General Election.

PLSA Chief Executive Julian Mund said: “During two stints at the PLSA, Nigel has served us, and our members, with dedication for 13 years. He has made an immeasurable contribution to developing pensions policy during that time. On one hand, we will miss the energy and commitment Nigel brings to his day-to-day duties, but on the other, I am very pleased that he has agreed to stay on in an advisory role in a pivotal year for pensions.”

PLSA Director of Policy & Advocacy Nigel Peaple said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working full time, and full on, as the Policy Director at the PLSA but, as I approach a significant birthday, I am ready to shift down a gear. I am looking forward to taking on this new role and in supporting the PLSA in being the voice of workplace pensions and savings and advocating for the best outcomes for savers.”
