24 October 2024, News

The latest issue of Policy Watch is now ready for you in the PLSA member area.

In this PolicyWatch, we update members on the PLSA responses to the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) levy rules consultation for next year, as well as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Value for Money consultation.

On the Pensions Review, we hosted a roundtable with ministers and a small group of our Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) members, where important topics such as consolidation and pooling were discussed. Parliament has returned, seeing a landmark Employment Rights Bill introduced in the House of Commons, while the House of Lords held a debate on the new defined benefit (DB) funding code.

Following the commitments made in its manifesto, the Labour Government has set out its vision for the future of Britain’s infrastructure, while a Whitehall “shake up” had Poppy Gustafsson OBE appointed to the role of Minister for Investment. The PLSA continues to contribute to the Pensions and Growth debate, having published a report on fiscal incentives, containing 10 recommendations which can help encourage pension schemes to allocate more of the nation’s savings to UK assets.
This edition also reveals the results of our member survey on the impact of the Virgin Media/NTL case and the new consultation on collective defined contribution (CDC).
