CEO, Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia
Martin is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA).
Martin joined ASFA in November 2016 and prior to this was a Managing Consulting Partner at KPMG where he worked with clients across financial services and other sectors to drive transformational change.
Before joining KPMG, Martin was the Asia Pac Practice Leader for the Hackett Group, a global benchmarking and finance transformation strategy firm.
From late 2007 to 2011, Martin was the CEO of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA), the premier membership organisation for financial services industry professionals in Australasia. At FINSIA, he led the organisation’s transformation following the sale of its education business.
From 2005 to 2007, Martin led strategy and development as a Regional Director for Asia Pacific for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
Prior to this, he enjoyed a 15 year academic career in Ireland, France and the United States.
Martin has specialised in driving transformational change to deliver cost savings and has presented at more than 500 industry and academic conferences. He has published five books, three monographs and numerous articles.
Martin was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 2001. He holds a Ph.D in Information Systems from University College Cork as well as undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Information Systems and Accounting from the NUI.
He was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at Montana State University. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Sydney, where he is also Chair of the Centre for Management and Organisation Studies (CMOS) Advisory Board.
