The role of gold within UK DC schemes

Alternatives allocations amongst DC schemes is on the rise. According to Mercer’s European asset allocation insights for 2021, after equities, alternatives amount to the second largest allocation; often for growth and defensive objectives. Gold is robust and multifaceted in its nature and utility and is worth consideration by DC pension schemes given it is highly liquid and a proven and effective portfolio diversifier. Join us for a lively discussion exploring how an allocation to gold can help protect against downside risk, boost liquidity and enhance a portfolio’s overall risk-adjusted returns. After this session participants should have a better understanding of gold’s attributes, what drives its demand and how gold differs from the wider commodity complex.
