JANE HIGGINS

Partner, Allen & Overy

Jane advises trustees and employers on a wide range of pensions issues. Jane advises the trustees of the three main Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) pension schemes on matters ranging from board governance to the impact of banking reform, and on the industry test case regarding GMP equalisation – one of 2018’s key cases.

Jane has particular expertise in pensions issues affecting financial institutions and the impact of banking reform. Following a secondment to the Bank of England’s Financial Markets Law Committee in 2010, Jane joined HM Treasury’s Working Group dealing with the impact of banking reform on pension schemes. She is advising HSBC on the restructuring of its pension arrangements to deal with ring-fencing requirements, and the LBG trustees on the impact of banking reform on their schemes.

Jane is a regular contributor to the wider pensions industry – she is a member of the APL’s Main Committee and was previously on its Education and Seminars Committee (responsible for organising junior workshops), and the SPP’s PR and Legislation Committees.
